Our new showroom in Fort Honswijk

Fort Honswijk, stunningly situated on the Lek river, is a 175-year-old cultural and landscape icon. Not only that, but the building is also the location of our new showroom!

The so-called Stelling van Honswijk, just south of Utrecht, forms the monumental heart of the most complete water defense line landscape in the Netherlands. It is also the oldest tower fort of the largest national monument in the Netherlands, the New Dutch Waterline, which has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

For over two centuries, the Dutch Waterlines have been an example of Dutch water management, military architecture, and landscape planning. An ensemble of defensive works forms a 200-kilometer ribbon with more than a hundred forts and five fortified cities. Connected by over a thousand military and hydraulic engineering objects: inundation canals, locks, dikes and quays, forts, and other military structures, of which Fort Honswijk is one. Its function? To prevent the French enemy from crossing the Lekdijk. From the fort, the lock was guarded that served as the supply for the river water used to flood the surrounding area.

This ingenious system, an illustration of Dutch inventiveness in land and water management, has not only been open for tours and recreation since its restoration in 2023, but is also a place where history and contemporary business meet. The Fort Honswijk Foundation offers companies like Circuform an inspiring business meeting place. The peaceful environment and beautiful nature, with a view of the Lek river, is the perfect spot for creativity, business, and partnerships.
